The familiar VINELink inmate check name now points Van Zandt County users toward a different service. Texas ended county VINE service and launched Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. It is the current place to search county custody or supervision records and request event notices. Legacy VINELink directions are historical and should not be used as current county instructions.
IVSS-Counties accepts names and several agency identifiers. Its public results cover people currently in custody or under supervision. A released person may disappear from results, so the portal is a notification tool rather than a permanent released-person archive. The Sheriff released detail, TDCJ history, and court file remain the confirming records.

A careful search starts with the strongest identifier available. Full or partial first and last names work, and the portal suggests using the first three letters of each name when spelling is uncertain. DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, and permanent booking number can reduce same-name errors.

Status events may arrive around the clock as agencies supply them. The service does not claim that an alert is an official release record. Preserve the notice, then verify the event with the Sheriff or TDCJ.
Confirm Van Zandt County IVSS Alerts
IVSS does not replace the official Sheriff release detail, the jail register, a TDCJ history response, or a clerk-certified disposition. For a county-jail event, open the Sheriff Released mode and compare release date and time, How Released, Release Reason, and booking details. For a transfer, follow the receiving agency rather than describing it as freedom.
Federal BOP and ICE custody require their own official locators. A county notification cannot establish release from those systems. Likewise, a projected TDCJ date is not an actual release. Record the alert time, match identity, and obtain later confirmation from the agency with custody.
Why Van Zandt County Left VINELink
Texas changed county notification providers on September 1, 2025. Existing VINE registrations migrated to IVSS-Counties, and returning users may be asked to reset a password and check preferences. Phone and text notices continued through the new provider, but old screenshots and call instructions may no longer match the live portal.
Under the former service, a registrant supplied a phone number and selected a four-digit PIN. Entering that PIN acknowledged an automated call; it never proved identity or made the alert an official release record. That process belongs only in this historical explanation.
Van Zandt County Alerts After Release
A person who is no longer in custody may vanish from the search while an existing registration remains active. The registration can resume if the person returns to custody. This is why a no-result screen does not necessarily mean an alert request was deleted.

Test the current portal with known identifiers or call support rather than promising full local coverage. Which Van Zandt County Alert System Applies?
A person booked by a county or city officer should first be checked in the official Sheriff detention portal. Current mode addresses present county custody, while Released mode preserves the county exit record. IVSS-Counties adds notification and current supervision coverage. These sources can describe the same event from different angles, but they should not be collapsed into one status.
If the Sheriff record says transfer to TDCJ, use the TDCJ locator while the person remains incarcerated and the state IVSS layer for eligible notices. Once the person is no longer returned by the current-only TDCJ search, ask TDCJ for existing release or discharge history. A parole inquiry can identify the assigned office when supervision continues.
If the county record shows transfer to federal or immigration authority, neither county IVSS nor the TDCJ service is the final locator. Use the Bureau of Prisons locator for sentenced federal custody and ICE ODLS for current ICE custody or its limited recent-release horizon. Obtain the destination from the Sheriff if the transfer entry is unclear.
Match Van Zandt County IVSS Results Carefully
Names alone can join the wrong person to an alert. Compare the date of birth or age where available, agency, Jail ID, SID, DOC ID, booking number, and known custody episode. A city police arrest can appear with the Van Zandt County Sheriff as the confining agency, so different agency names do not always mean different people.

A later absence calls for the free inmate-information email route or a focused public-information request. Ask for admission, release, discharge, and release-category fields. This distinction matters because release from confinement can begin parole or mandatory supervision, while discharge marks a later end to the sentence or supervision record.
Notification choices depend on what the live IVSS screen offers. Confirm each phone, text, or account preference shown and keep support information available. Do not copy an old VINE PIN workflow into a new registration. A migrated account may need a password update, while a new registration follows the current provider’s prompts.
